The Croal Mountains encompass most of the northern half of Sparkling Creek Valley's western border, stretching southward until it forms into a set of particularly rugged ranges known as the White River Mountain Range. It is divided from the gentler Ochotona Mountains by the Canyon in the north, from which feeds Requiems River.

Three major areas are found in the Croals, including the Breve Ridges, Suporvestus Basin, and the Upper Sparkling Creek, before it splits into the respective Sparkling Creek and Sedge Creek a few miles out from the mountains.

Long before Atroe City was established, an ancient civiliation inhabited the Valley and built spectacular temples in the Croal Mountains. Today, two of these ancient sites are known to exit - the Ruins, and further up in the mountains, the Temple of the Ancient Guardians.
